Paniers or the later variant pocket hoops are a must for every period gown from the 18th century. Our large pocket hoops are modelled after extant garments and have proven to be reliable skirt supports, even for heavy gowns. Every pocket has three massive german flat steels inside, to support all the skirts underneath. The steel bones can be removed, for storage and of course, washing the pocket hoops. The pocket hoops are perfect for gowns with wider skirts, they measure 28cm / 11 inch to the sides, but if you need narrower ones, just ask us.They can be used as pockets, too - so you can easily store your personal stuff without an extra bag to carry around. But what makes our pocket hoops special, are the tulle ruffles - they do not only add to the skirt support, they prevent the steels from showing on the outer skirts - and everyone who likes those dresses knows, how ugly that is. We can, of course, make these pocket hoops in black, too, in our hoop skirts section, you can find a listing for black pocket hoops as well. Any other colour can be made as well on demand - just drop us a note. For more historical accuracy, we can make the ruffles in plain cotton, or leave them away. Just tell us what you'd like to have, and we're happy to make the perfect garment for you. If you need a petticoat to go with our pockets, browse our historical garments section, there you can find one it is perfectly fitted to our paniers and pocket hoops. We do make complete gowns and dresses as well if you are interested in one, feel free to message us. Material specifications: base: 100% cotton, tulle: 50 % nylon, 50 % polyester.
