A proper underskirt is a must for every 18th century rococo dress. It gives the skirts a proper, voluminous shape - together with the right skirt support underneath (which we offer as well in different variations - have a look at the "hoop skirts" section in our shop). Our example skirt is shown over our big pocket hoops with tulle ruffles - so this should give you a good impression on the shape they make. The skirt is made up from two panels, and a 20cm (8 inch) wide ruffle at the hem - which supports your gown and gives it a gorgeous swing when you move in it.It closes via four ribbons, that extend the waistband - tie the ones from the back panel round your waist - in the front, and the ribbons from the front panel at your back. A slit in each of the side seams lets you access your pockets or pocket hoops underneath easily this way of constructing and wearing such skirts, is historically accurate for 18th century garmentsyou can choose between black and white 100% cotton fabric, if you need a different colour, choose custom and let us know which one you need in a message. The underskirt is made according to your personal measurements, please send us the following ones with your order:- waist size (over your corset or stays)- front length (waist to floor) - if you intend to wear high heeled shoes with your gown, please put them on when you take the measurements. We make the skirt approximately 10cm (4 inch) shorter than your given measurement, to prevent the underskirt from showing - please don't substract this on your own - we will calculate the needed length - if you have any special wishes, let us know in advance. Those skirts go perfectly with the pocket hoops we offer, therefore we recommend to order a set of them, if you need the underskirt for a panier or pocket hoops that weren't made by us, please send us the side length, from waist to floor, taken over your skirt support, as well. If you like to have both the pocket hoops and the underskirt convo us of course, we can make a complete gown for you as well - message us for reference pictures of our previous works and to discuss a custom commission.
