Part of a private lace collection. Victorian 1840s white silk tule and embroidered over skirt with a flattering flat front, huge train or bustle back, under flounce of 14" and hand embroidered 12" deep over flounce to the bottom of the skirt. All the edges are scalloped and hand finished in white silk. This fabulous creation has the benefit of matching additional gown trimmings, which like the skirt are firm and without any rot, distress or age marks. The creation was worn once, to the brides wedding in august 1841, in north yorkshire, thereafter it was stored until it was taken in to a private lace collection in 1969. The collar, cuffs and additional flounce/trim was taken off the original white silk under dress. This is such a very rare and beautiful find, as the condition is excellent, its highly wearable today and would compliment any victorian or vintage themed brides wedding ensemble. Wear as an overskirt to a full length dress, adding the collar, cuffs and trim for a totally genuine antique themed dress. No one will have another like it, it's totally unique. Professionally cleaned in july it has the added benefit of a new waistband with hook and eye fastenings (to the back)the skirt; length to the front; 41"waist; 32" hips; 38-48" length at the back; 72"the trimming; two part collar; 2 x 22" depth; 2"cuffs; 2 x 26" depth; 5" the run of ruffle trim is; length; 181" depth 5"the fabric has been shown in natural light for clarity and is completely untouched digitally.
