rare vintage 1950's black velvet wrap skirt by holocaust survivor and recorder, frances epstein 50's vtg long black full maxi skirt
From my personal collection, a truly historical and rare itemthis 1950's black velvet wrap skirt with woven braid trim was made by holocaust survivor and recorder, frances epstein. This ankle length, elegant and simple beauty was made by the hands of a woman who had lived through so much pain and sufferingit touches my heart in an unreal way to have owned this piece, made by such a strong spirited woman. It's time for me to pass her on to someone who will give her the life she deserves. Her memoir is titled "franci's war", by franci rabinek epstein and published by penguin books.
Below is a quote copied from her 1989 nytimes obituary. Epstein was born in prague and was a designer of high-fashion dresses in czechoslovakia before being interned at auschwitz and bergen-belsen concentration camps.
After her liberation from bergen-belsen, she came to the united states, where she resumed her fashion career. See measurements below for best fit.
