The hem of the skirt is hemmed 2.5 inches underneath so it can possibly be made longer if desired. On the back is a fully working zipper for easy closure that opens up 9 inches. The skirt is overall a bit heavy, would probably be ideal for cooler weather, and has an overall handmade look.
It would be no surprise if this skirt was handmade at the time by a professional seamstress. The black velvet is full and intact, but will need a round of lint-roller to remove some external dust particles.
There are no noted rips or defects, it is in wonderful shape for it's age the thin blue velvet ribbon strands may use some spot cleaning but there are no odors, and i say is it is ready to wear. Measurements:waist: 26" (13" across lying flat)length: 27"hem: 124" circumference (roughly)it is marked a vintage size 12. With this skirt being presumably made over 70 years ago, this is more like a modern size 2. It was a perfect fit on my 26 waist mannequin. It is ideal for a 25-26" waist, maybe even 24", but that could be too little.
